The All Nagaland Adhoc Teachers Group (ANATG) 2015 batch on Tuesday announced it will proceed with its proposed hunger strike from February 11, citing a lack of official communication from the state government.
The strike will begin at 10:30 am at the Capital Convention Centre in Kohima, the group’s Media Cell said.
Informing this, the Media Cell ANATG said, with no official information or communication either from the government or the department as was expected today, the group has decided to proceed with the proposed hunger strike tomorrow.
It was also informed that the ANATG will not be able to use the Naga Solidarity Park tomorrow owing to prior bookings of the venue. However, the Media Cell expressed deep gratitude to the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) for its consistent support and assistance throughout the movement.
As a result of the venue constraint, it said, the programme has been shifted to the Capital Convention Centre.
The group had earlier proposed to begin the hunger strike on February 10, which was put on hold at the last minute.
The ongoing protest by the ANATG-2015 batch entered its sixth day on Tuesday. The agitation, which began on February 4 at the Naga Solidarity Park in Kohima, has seen members gather daily to demand the implementation of earlier government assurances and policy decisions regarding the regularisation of the adhoc teachers.
