The prolonged impasse between the All Nagaland Adhoc Teachers’ Group (ANATG) 2015 batch and the state government appears to have de-escalated temporarily, with the agitating teachers deciding to keep their protest on hold following a series of assurances from the Directorate of School Education.

As the impasse between ANATG and the government continues, a series of communications have been exchanged between the two sides.

In a late-evening communication on February 19, Principal Director of School Education, Shashank Pratap Singh, appealed to the teachers to call off their ongoing stir regarding the delay in regularisation of their services. Acknowledging the “anxiety and uncertainty” faced by the affected members, the department stated that it is making concerted efforts to systematically review, trace, and reconcile the required documents in coordination with the concerned authorities.

It was informed that genuine issues such as untraceable documents including sanction post order numbers, appointment orders, and release orders of previous incumbents have already been escalated, and alternative solutions are being explored with the competent authority.

The department also assured the ANATG that it is making its best possible efforts to resolve the issue in a fair and transparent manner while necessary administrative measures will be undertaken to verify records, address discrepancies, and ensure that all genuine cases are duly considered as per established norms and procedures.

The Principal Director also informed that a Special Officer or team will be deputed exclusively to look into ANATG-2015 related matters, including the submission of additional documents, and that the group may also depute volunteers to assist in the data entry exercise, if required.

In this regard, it has once again, earnestly requested the ANATG to call off the agitation and extend cooperation to facilitate a constructive resolution process, stating that a collaborative approach would enable expeditious redressal and help avoid disruption to academic functioning across the State.

Following multiple communications from the department, the Core Committee of ANATG-2015 held an emergency meeting late on February 19 that lasted until midnight. These included assurances from the Principal Director, School Education on February 12, 2026; the Commissioner & Secretary, School Education & SCERT on February 13 and the latest response from the Principal Director dated February 19.

After threadbare deliberations and keeping the interest of ANATG in mind, the Core Committee has decided that while acknowledging and honouring the department’s written assurance to arrange alternative solutions regarding incomplete documents, and to officially assign a departmental officer to handle ANATG files, the group would, in good faith, temporarily keep the protest on hold.

However, the committee asserted that this decision is conditional. All alternative arrangements, procedures, and processes for the regularisation of ANATG members must be completed before June 30, 2026, the committee resolved. Failure to address the long-pending regularisation issue within the stipulated timeframe would compel ANATG to resume democratic protest in a more intensified manner, committee further resolved.

Meanwhile, the ANATG 2015 batch is scheduled to hold another meeting on February 21.
