Anathongre farmers trained on mushroom cultivation, bee keeping and others

Kiphire, June 27 (MExN): Three-day training on mushroom cultivation, bee keeping, vermicomposting and nutritional garden was conducted at Anathongre village of Kiphire district from June 25 to 27.  

Jointly organized by ATMA Kiphire and KVK Kiphire, the training started with a briefing on Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan (KKA) under which farmers will be given assistance and advice on ways to improve farming techniques and raise their income by Santsu, District Agricultural Officer and Project Director (ATMA), Kiphire district.  

The resource person for the first day Mahabemo Patton, Assistant Technology Manager (ATM), Kiphire block trained the farmers on bee management, timely extraction of honey, bee keeping equipments, informed a press release.  

On the second day, Setsiba, BTT Convenor trained the farmers on mushroom cultivation, preparation involved in its process, infrastructure requirement, post harvest handling, and value addition of mushroom.  

Kekosenuo Solo, Block Technology Manager (BTM), Kiphire Block on the final day spoke on the role of home garden for providing daily food and a source of income. She also spoke on vermicomposting and how mixed with nutritional garden, it can be used to uplift their economy and living standard. Kekosenuo further highlighted the precaution to be taken during the process of the kitchen garden site and the spacing and intercultural operation to be maintained, the release added.  

It was then followed by an interaction session between the officials and farmers.  

A total of 53 people attended the programme. They were given mushroom spawns and vegetable seeds after the training.
