
DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 10 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has written to the Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs (Scholarship Division), GoI; and the Nagaland Minister for Higher Education and Tribal Affairs appealing for immediate release of the pending 2nd installment of CSS-Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) for ST students of Nagaland for the year 2021-2023.
The ANCSU letter noted that the ministry has released Rs 44,35,74,750 as arrear for the year 2020-2021 and 1st installment (50% of central share ) for the year 2021-2022 under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) of PMS to ST students of Nagaland, dated, June 24, 2021. However, the ANCSU said that the remaining required amount of grant-in-aid (2nd installment) is yet to be sanctioned to the State Government of Nagaland even after the submission of utilization certificate on June 24, 2022 to the concerned ministry.
“We regret to inform you that students are anguished and alarming to go for any befitting course of agitation for undergoing step motherly treatment year after year,” the ANCSU said. It therefore appealed to the Minister to promptly intervene in the matter.
Meanwhile, the ANCSU also appealed that sanction for the aforesaid scholarship be released to the deserving beneficiaries at one go; and not on installment basis henceforth from next financial year in the greater interest and well being of the student’s community.
“We sincerely pray that your authority would not disregard the issue but comprehend the matter at paramount by salvaging the students from this trauma to avoid academic recession in the state,” it added.
