ANCSU dismayed by UGC notice on exams by September end

DIMAPUR, JULY 20 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students Union (ANCSU) has expressed dismay at the revised UGC guidelines to conduct End Semester Examinations for all courses throughout India by the end of September 2020. “At a time when the entire world is left helpless of how to save its citizens from this virus, UGC issuing directive to conduct exams is highly disapproved,” a letter from the ANCSU to the Chief Secretary stated. It pointed out that due to poor internet connectivity and lack of required gadgets in Nagaland, holding online exams in not feasible. Conducting physical mode of examination is no less than putting the entire state at risk, it added.  The union appealed to the State Government to request the UGC and MHRD to allow the Nagaland University to take relevant decision in the interest of the students’ community. Until such time, NU should withdraw the exam routines for all courses published on July 16 the ANCSU suggested. It further asked the State Government and NU to first prioritize safety of colleges and university fraternities before taking any decision for conduct of exams.
