In the late seventies, the pioneers of ANCSU realized the need to have a platform of the college students to be mainly fanatical towards the interest of the college students in Nagaland. The committed student- leader started open discussion which was later on August 2nd 1979, under the initiative of Toshi, Vizolie, Neingulo, Roben, Arhomo and Achamo and some other individuals and student leaders of various college, emphasized the need of the Students’ Union.
In the meantime, the Draft constitution for the proposed body ‘All Nagaland College Students’ Union’ with the Theme “Unity is Strength” was formally adopted in 1980. With the common objectives at that time was to give NSF and extended hand of taking care of the college students in particular and strengthen the NSF for further cause, thereof the college students came into existence to protect that the interest of the college students in matters relating to scholarship, higher studies, providing infrastructural development and other basic requirements.
It may be recalled that the Nagaland University was under the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) as an equal partner to other north eastern states, however on several occasion, Nagaland college were given step motherly treatment both in academic and infrastructural matters.
ANCSU over the years have rendered remarkable service to the college students in particular and the Nagas at large and brought relieves to many aggrieved students and also crested consciousness for quality education and widened the scope of higher learning and over and above, it has delivered justice and equality to the deserving students and ANCSU celebrated its 25 years of its achievements in the year 2004.
