DIMAPUR, MARCH 21 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) today cautioned that it would not allow any college to function if the state government fails to credit the pending Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) amounts to the beneficiaries by March 26.
“Failing to credit the scholarship amount in the respective bank accounts of 11335 deprived beneficiaries by the 26th March 2018, the ANCSU will abstain from attending regular classes and shall not allow any college to function,” the ANCSU said in a press note today. It further said that the ANCSU shall not be held responsible “if any untoward situation arises out of its intervention.”
It reminded that despite assurances, the state government has failed to release the pending amounts to the students. The ANCSU informed that it has reminded the Chief Minister to take action with regard to the remaining amount i.e. Rs 7.71 Crore for which 11335 deserving ST students’ from 69 institutions are yet to receive their due share.
“The state government is making an amusement of the genuine demands and the memorandum put forth by ANCSU towards releasing the deserving student’s scholarships or to make alternative arrangements to make sure that the beneficiaries receive the scholarship,” the ANCSU stated.
Informing that the union had sought appointment on several occasions with the CM and the concerned Minister to discuss on the issue, it lamented that no appointment has been granted to ANCSU till date. “The ANCSU is dismayed over the matter for turning a deaf ear towards the genuine cause. The ANCSU is neither informed nor witnessed any developments taken place on the issue. The state Government should stop fooling the students’ community by making lame excuses and by giving fake assurances,” it stated.
It said that the ANCSU in light of the circumstances has lost its patience and shall no longer co-operate any further with the state government.
