Kohima, April 21 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students Union (ANCSU) today expressed gratitude to Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University (NU) for his initiative and considering its memorandum submitted on April 18 last.
“As per the presidential meeting held on 20th April 2007, we have agreed upon some few points. For the general interest and quality education of the student community, the backlog system should not be implemented in the years to come. However, for the welfare of the students and in order to avoid further complications and discrimination among the students, the ANCSU has appealed to the Nagaland University to abide by its earlier directive to allow the Ist year students of BA, B.Sc, B. Com (Hons & Gen) 2006-07 batch with the backlog for this semester only and the formalities of which is in process by the Nagaland University,” ANCSU president Chichamo Kikon said in release.
ANCSU also informed the Ist year students 2006-07 batch with backlogs to put more efforts in their studies and make sure that they clear all their papers including their back papers in the subsequent year.
The Union also submitted 6 points of demand to the NU for the betterment of the general students.
1. There should be a proper question bank to allow the students to improve and learn more.
2. There should be a proper annual academic calendar ahead of the annual session and should be made known to the concern colleges.
3. There should be a systematic syllabus for the students and if there is any changes, then it should be notified ahead of time and not at the eleventh hour.
4. Ensure the availability of prescribed text books.
5. There should be a systematic exam routine depending on the subject combinations of the students.
6. Ensure that the question patterns are student friendly.
“The ANCSU is pleased to inform all the students that during our meeting with the vice chancellor and the concern officials of Nagaland University we had an optimistic response on the points mentioned above,” Kikon added.
The Union added that the initiative taken towards the welfare of the students by the NU “is very much appreciated and the ANCSU wishes the Nagaland University all the very best as they continue to work for the welfare of the students.”
