
Morung Express News Kohima | November 2 The collegiate meet 2018 of the All Nagaland College Students' Union (ANCSU) will be held from November 13-17 in Dimapur. Under the theme 'Invigorating Young Talents', Dimapur Government College will host the meet with Temjen Imna Along, Minister, Higher & Technical Education, as the Chief Host. Addressing the media on November 2 at the ANCSU office, Benjong Longchar, Vice President ANCSU informed that 1500 delegates from 40 affiliated colleges will be attending the Meet. The Collegiate Meet is a biennial event which is one of the most important Meet, said Longchar, with its main objective to promote the skills and talents of the college students. The main highlights of the Collegiate Meet are Football (Men), Volleyball (Women), Badminton (Mixed Doubles), Beat Contest, and Miss ANCSU. "It is purely a promotional events for the colleges. The program is part and parcel of college education for students in particular and the youth in general," stated Longchar. Vimeyiekho Vitso further updated that the Special Guests and Invitees for the Meet are Tongpang Ozukum, Minister, Public Works Department (Inaugural function), Relo T Aye, ADCP, Crime Dimapur (Introductory session), Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire, Minister, Rural Development (Beat Contest), Er. Zale Neikha, Advisor, Youth Resources and Sports (Valedictory Function). Expecting a huge gathering with 1500 delegates, Vitso also pointed out that events such as the meet are crucial junctures for students at the college age group to promote, exhibit and enhance their skills and talents. "The legacy of the Meet, which is being followed since its inception, is in good record. We have learned that students who participated in the Collegiate Meet were able to move forward and represent the State even in National levels. We believe that even this year, the students will move ahead and shine not only for the College but the State and Nation as well," stated Vitso. During the press conference, the ANCSU has also extended appreciation and acknowledged the Host College i.e. Dimapur Government College, and it’s other sponsors for the help and assistance. In this regard, the ANCSU has also requested all the interested colleges to contact the ANCSU for any information or doubts. The last date of submission of entry is November 5, informed Longchar, therefore the ANCSU has appealed all the colleges to send their confirmation and entry forms on or before November 5. The ANCSU has also requested College Principals 'to kindly cooperate' and send their students and support them. A special feature of the Collegiate Meet is the Miss. ANCSU contest which is being introduced for the first time. The contest will comprise of three rounds that is: Introductory Round which will require contestants to don on their original traditional attired, the Modern Ethnic Round and the Question Round (formal). Through this contest, the ANCSU also aims to the ethnic culture and traditions.
