ANCSU serves ultimatum to Higher Education minister to terminate 42 contractual teachers

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 8 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students' Union (ANCSU) has issued an ultimatum to the Minister, Higher Education & Tourism to terminate the service of 42 contractual teachers under Higher Education department within 14 days.

In the ultimatum, the ANSCU said the said 42 contractual teachers in question lack the requisite qualification, for which it had made several appeals to the concerned department to make a call on the matter.

While understanding the decade long issue of contract appointment done in successive years, the union said it felt pertinent to give sufficient time to the department and government to take a decisive call on concluding the matter. However, in such consideration, the department's sincerity in solving the issue has never been serious, the union alleged, adding that it had even given recommendations and suggestions, along with several representations on the matter.

The union said over the years, such irregular appointments has not only deprived the aspirants from open competition but also affected the teaching environment in the institutes. While acknowledging the services of the contractual teachers, the ANCSU cannot allow such services to continue henceforth, it added.

The union also asked the department to prepare all measures, as intimated earlier, to ensure that there is no shortage of teachers under any circumstances.
