ANCSU submits representation

Kohima, May 16 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students Union (ANCSU) has strongly resolved not to accept the scholarship in two-installment basis. In a representation addressed to the Director, Higher Education, the union demanded full payment on or before May 25.

A copy of the representation received here said that if the authority fails to comply with its demand on the stipulated period, the ANCSU will be compelled to start its own course of action, for which the union will not be responsible if any untoward consequences arises.

The union stated that as per the directive given from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, New Delhi, for the year 2005-06, the students deserve to get 50 per cent at the first installment whereas, the amount-sanction is Rs. 1, 30, 40, 122 (One crore thirty lakh forty thousand one hundred and twenty two only) out of Rs. 14, 94, 20, 500 (Fourteen crore ninety four lakh twenty thousand and five hundred) for 33,339 students.

The representation signed by its president Chichamo Kikon and general secretary Vingutuo Rutsa argued that the question of the providing 50 per cent of PMCS scholarship at the end of one academic year does not arise as the scheme itself is for the year 2005-06.

“While the neighboring states are getting the scholarship in one time payment, the union see no reason why only the Nagaland state has to be on installment basis,” ANCSU wondered.
