ANCSU urges students to be ambassadors of Clean Election

Kohima, February 12 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) while appealing for a fair and clean election in the state today acknowledged the Nagaland Baptist Church Council and its units, All Sumi Students’ Union (SKK), ABAM and all other groups, unions, associations and individuals who are spearheading the Clean Election campaign.

In a press release issued by President Katho P Awomi and General Secretary Vimeyiekho Vitso, the union also appealed to the college students to fervently support and spearhead the Clean Election both in campaign and in practice.

As per Election Commission record, in Nagaland the age group between 20 and 29 years comprise of 23.9% electors, which is the second highest group, ANCSU said. Therefore, it urged the college students to be ambassadors of Clean Election to their family, relatives, clans, villages, constituencies and all their near and dear ones.

“The impact of the ill practices during the time of election is the consequences for poor developmental activities that cover the educational sector which directly affects the student community,” the students’ body highlighted.

It appealed to all the political parties and candidates to have a vision in the field of education and elevate the education system of Nagaland.

Asserting that the society as a whole should rise above one’s own interest and think beyond for the larger interest of the society, ANCSU believed that a clean and fair election will greatly benefit the citizens and “more particularly it will raise the bar of standard and quality education in Nagaland which has been the continuous prayer of many.”

ANCSU asserted to continue to fight against all ills and activities that affect the student community and therefore urged the citizens to also contribute in this cause by firmly standing for fair and clean election.
