Nagaland State Government assures to meet demands within April
KOHIMA, MARCH 19 (MExN): The All Nagaland Electricity Field Workers Association (ANEFWA) has kept its proposed agitation in abeyance till April 30. The agitation, regarding demands for payment of Time Bound Scale (TBS) of pay and past arrears, was scheduled to start from March 20. The Association had, on February 17, submitted a representation to the Government of Nagaland to meet the said demands within thirty days. It had cautioned that failure to do so would compel the Association to agitate to the extent of “tools down.”
A press note from the ANEFWA informed that a joint meeting of the Association and the Directorate Office of the Power Department, under the Chairmanship of Er. Imlikumzuk Ao, was held on March 15. According to the ANEFWA, the Chairman highlighted the latest developments of a high level meeting, chaired by the Chief Secretary. He further assured that the matter is under “active consideration” by the Government and as such, requested the Association to withdraw the proposed agitation.
The ANEFWA press note further informed that the Chairman had assured to complete the pay fixation of eligible W/C staff for TBS of pay, IPS fixation, preparation and verification of arrear bills submitted by the divisions and pre audit by the directorate of treasuries and accounts, within April 2014.
Recognizing, what it termed as the “belated activeness of the government,” the executive council of the ANEFWA however resolved to proceed with agitations, if the demands are not met within April. In this regard, all zonal presidents of the ANEFWA have been directed to comply with the Association’s decision and to be prepared for agitation by May 1.
