NEW DELHI, MARCH 2 (MExN): The Angami community in Delhi gathered at Nagaland House on Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Road on Saturday to celebrate Sekrenyi, the main festival of the Angami Naga tribe. The event, organized by Angami Krotho Delhi (AKD), brought together people of all ages to honor their cultural heritage and foster community ties.
The celebration featured a panel discussion on reviving past traditions and the intersection between cultural practices and Christian beliefs. Panellists included Rev. Dr. Noulezhalie Ricky Medom, pastor of Naga Christian Fellowship Delhi; Kuolie Mere, deputy director of Nagaland’s Department of Information & Public Relations; and cultural advocates Vikhilie Terhüja and Medovisienuo Dahou. The discussion, moderated by Dr. Kevisetuo Dzeyie, explored ways to reinterpret Sekrenyi in contemporary times and its relevance today.
AKD President Kevijalie Belho delivered the welcome address, while Rev Dr Medom offered the invocation. The program also featured a special song by AKD members and a poetry recital by Group Captain Ajalie Zuyie of the Indian Air Force. An Open Naga Wrestling competition was also held as part of the celebrations.
Vikuoheo Chüpuo served as the event’s emcee, and Kethosinuo Tepa delivered the vote of thanks.
