Kohima, February 7 (MExN): The Angami Youth Organization (AYO) has asserted its position “unequivocally clear” in demanding for all the Angami legislators to resign cooperatively with immediate effect.
A press release from AYO Media Cell stated, “This clarion call is made once again trusting that without resorting to compulsive moves which are bound to develop if it is not responded positively. Yet, we trust that human conscientious sense would prevail among all of them.”
It warned of non-compliance against any sitting Angami MLA who refuses to resign, adding “in the future for posterity (the MLAs) can be assured to be met with non cooperation and societal reactions.” For any such reactions, the concerned individuals and MLAs, it said, will be held entirely responsible.
Meanwhile, the youth organisation asked the Government to immediately lift the 144 CrPC imposed in various localities of Kohima Town. “It is entirely unnecessary to create a warlike situation by planting thousands of cops creating fear psychosis in the mind of the public. It is our simple reasoning that imposition of such atrocious situations would only provoke further escalation of violence which we completely abhor,” AYO stated. “…In the event of any unfortunate developments that occur out of these areas, the Government shall be held entirely and specifically responsible.”
AYO further appealed to all the citizens of Kohima to bear a black flag or badge or anything black to “signify and register our committed protest against the government at your homes or vehicles or in any forms.”
