The Angami Students’ Union (ASU) added three assets to its feather with the inauguration of Angami Morung-cum- mini conference hall and Library in its office building in Kohima on May 31.

ASU office is located near All India Radio (AIR) office, Kohima

It was formally inaugurated by Angami Public Organization (APO) President, Ravouvotuo Chatsu. Addressing the gathering, Chatsu said, “It is a matter of pride for Angamis that ASU is a highly regarded Students Office in our society. The Office of ASU have stood the test of time and accomplished much for our people, be it socio-cultural or education. It was and is still the voice that represents the aspirations and visions of the students and youths in our society.”

He said that ASU have also honed talents and quality leadership who are now leading in the upliftment of the Naga society in different fields and professions. The Morung house represents the preservation of our heritage, it can be used as a sort of museum to collect and store any kind of data and artifacts associated with our cultural and traditional practices, he said.
The Library is also one facility that students, scholars and the public can directly avail. With the completion of the Conference Hall, ASU Office will now be nerve centre of students’ welfare activities, he said.

ASU President, Bisevi Nakhro delivered keynote address. The programme was chaired by ASU Art & Cultural Secretary, Azha Mezhii. Rev Zakiebeinyii Peseyie, Pastor, Jotsoma Baptist Church invoked God’s blessing. Folk song was presented by Seyiekru Cultural Troupe, Riisoma. Vote of thanks was proposed by ASU vice president Kevilelhou Zumu.
