The Angami Youth Organization (AYO) along with its constituent units including SAYO, NAYO, WAYO and CYO observed the World Environment Day today.
The AYO also collaborated with all the village youth bodies and planted trees in all the Angami villages. Around 5000 tree saplings were planted on the day.
In the state capital Kohima, AYO officials along with youth leaders of the four AYO constituent units also carried out sanitation and plantation drive at New Secretariat Complex, Town Hall and some other parts under Kohima town.
After observing that the Town Hall, which is under construction, has been lying pending for a very long time, the AYO made its sincere appeal to the contractor(s) and the concerned department to arrive to a logical conclusion, and resume the construction works at the earliest in the interest of the public.
The day’s programme was organised in collaboration with the department of Forests, Environment and Climate Change, Government of Nagaland.
AYO president Neinguvotuo Krose informed that the tree plantation and sanitation drive has been carried out by AYO every year in the district.
Meanwhile, AYO acknowledged the forest department, particularly DFO Dimapur, Ranger Office, Chiephobozou and DFO Kohima, for providing the tree saplings.
