DIMAPUR, JAN 29 (MExN): The Anglo-Indian Community residing in and around Dimapur today, in a gathering at St. Xaviers Hostel compound formed an Association to cater to the needs of the Anglos living in Dimapur in particular and the society in general.
During the get together, various issues relating to the community were deliberated upon which finally supplemented to the need for forming an association.
While pointing out that the community can do a lot, one of the members said, ‘we need to be recognized and that is possible only through coming together’. One of the members while articulating that they are not minority anymore said, ‘we have to stand united for the future of our children and to pave the way for tomorrow and to give identity in the society’.
Sixteen families, who attended the meet, extended full support for the formation of such an association. The association also thanked the pioneers of the gathering, Nicola Fernandes and Ottilia Xavier for their initiative.
The prime objective of the association is to work towards building an aura of love, friendship and understanding amongst all the communities in the society, while safeguarding the rights and interests of every Anglo-Indian family and individual.
The gathering nominated 5 members Ad-hoc Committee namely Trevor Murry, Noel Baptist, Noel Manuel, Arnold Xavier and Clinton Lazarus to draft the association’s constitution.
The constitution will be tabled at the next Anglo Indian get together on February 25 at 10:00 am at King David School, Circular Road Dimapur.
