Kohima, June 28 (MExN): The All Nagaland Government Primary Teachers’ Association (ANGPTA) has today appealed for granting seniority of ad-hoc and regularized primary teachers.
In a letter addressed to the Director of School Education, Nagaland, ANGPTA President James Roukuosellou and General Secretary Hoshika H Sumi expressed that primary teachers who were appointment on ad-hoc/fixed/contract/etc were “discharging the same duties with the permanent employees, even before they were regularized.”
“It is also clearly mentioned in the appointment orders of ad-hoc/fixed/contract/etc that after the certain period of time, they will be regularized. But on the contrary, the department kept the case delaying for so many years,” the letter stated.
During the bulk regularization, the graduate teachers “were granted to claim the seniority from the date of appointment on ad-hoc/fixed/contract/etc whereas, the ad-hoc and regularized primary teachers were step-motherly treated,” the ANGPTA maintained.
Elucidating that the graduate and primary teachers are working in the same department with “same service rules,” it asserted “the same yardstick should be applied to all.”
While the counting of seniority were not mentioned in the regularization order for primary teachers, it mentioned that the “service rendered in the past will be counted for all other benefits except arrears.” As such, “the counting of seniority should automatically be included with all other benefits,” it stated.
