ANGPTA becomes official as lone govt Primary Teachers' body

Kohima, July 8 (MExN): The All Nagaland Government Primary Teachers' Association (ANGPTA) was officially formed at a general meeting held at CANSSEA building, Kohima on July 6, 2016. The body was officially formed based on the overwhelming support and the mandate received from every district through consultations and meetings with all categories of Primary Teachers, according to a press release from ANGPTA General Secretary, Hoshika H. Sumi and President, A Bendang Lkr.

The meeting decided that the All Nagaland Government Primary Teachers' Association covering all categories of Primary Teachers, irrespective of qualifications/nature of appointment etc., will be the only Primary Teachers’ association under the Directorate of School Education.

It was also resolved that the association, basing on the universal law of "the right to self-determination", will function independently from all other associations and will work for the protection of the rights and the welfare of all the Primary Teachers.

If any individual or group claims to represent the Primary Teachers without the mandate of all concerned, they shall be treated as “self style/bogus” and the claimant shall be held responsible for any eventuality, the house decided, according to the release.

The house also duly approved the drafted constitution for the smooth functioning of the association.

The meeting further resolved to take up and pursue the following matters: Amendment of the Departmental Service Rules to incorporate relevant rules to accommodate the Primary Teachers; Streamlining of Elementary Teachers Cadre for Primary Teachers serving in Primary and Upper Primary schools; To press the department to finalise the Cadre Review at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the meeting acknowledged the members of All Nagaland Graduate Primary Teachers’ Association for taking the initiative to highlight the genuine problems of Primary Teachers with the government and their spirit of inclusiveness to take along all categories of Primary Teachers under the banner of the All Nagaland Government Primary Teachers’ Association.

The house also expressed sorrow and grief to the family of late Temjenwati, Mokokchung unit President, over his untimely death and observed a moment of silence in respect of the departed soul.
