ANIEF resents re-verification of SSI units

Kohima, February 13 (MExN): The All Nagaland Industrial Entrepreneurs Federation has urged the State Department of Industries and Commerce to immediately stop the ongoing process of re-verification of the Small Scale Industrial (SSI) units pertaining to the pending cases under Central Transport Subsidy (CTS) and Central Capital Investment Subsidy (CCIS) for the years 2007, 2008 and 2009.

This was resolved during the All Nagaland Industrial Entrepreneurs Federation (ANIEF) executive committee meeting held on February 12 at Kohima.

ANIEF president Povotso Lohe, in a press release, stated that all the pending cases under the scheme for the periods as stated has already been verified or re-verified several times by the concerned department. “The claims of the pending cases have been pre-audited by the Audit by Department of Industrial Promotion & Policy (DIPP) Government of India during 2011 and release of funds awaited,” the Federation added.

Hence, the Federation alleged that the present exercise of resorting to another round of verification is not justified.

“How many times the Department of Industries & Commerce undertake the job of verification and re-verification of the pending cases, which were already cleared by the State Level Committee (SLC) some years back?,” the Federation asked. It added that re-verification of the industrial units through backdoor by the department staffs is a ploy to cause undue financial hardship and harassment to the selected units, “showing the sheer apathy of the Government and indifferent attitude of the concerned department.”

The ANIEF therefore, expressed strong resentment over the manner in which Department of Industries & Commerce has resorted to another round of re-verification of the units on the basis of pick and choose randomly is without any justification. Therefore, it demanded that the present exercise of re-verification of the pending cases be stopped immediately and if another selection of units is done at this stage be treated null and void.
