DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 1 (MExN): The All Nagaland Kachari Students’ Union (ANKSU) conducted its election in accordance with the ANKSU Constitution on January 10 electing a new team of office bearers for the tenure 2026–2029.
The newly elected office bearers were formally sworn in during a meeting of the Kachari Tribal Council Nagaland (KTCN) held on January 31. The meeting also included the handing-over and taking-over ceremony.
The new ANKSU team will be led by president Hamrongdao Difoe. The vice presidents are Vicky Mech and Lairing Jigdung. Sobir Kumar Mech was elected general secretary, while Faihamti Longmailai and Mirkhan Dev Mech were elected as joint secretaries.
The executive body further includes Phalang Jigdong as finance secretary-cum-treasurer; Pooja Naiding and Dinesh Mech as social and cultural secretaries; and Sunny Mech as reception-cum-organising secretary.
In a statement issued through its media cell, the Kachari Tribal Council Nagaland extended congratulations to the newly elected ANKSU office bearers and expressed confidence that the new team would work with dedication and integrity for the betterment of the student community. The council stated that it believes the new leadership will serve as the conscience of the Kachari youth in Nagaland by preserving cultural roots, safeguarding community interests, empowering young minds, and contributing to a dignified and progressive future for the community.
