ANMs decry non payment of salaries, discrimination

KOHIMA, MARCH 5 (MExN): The All Nagaland ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwife) under CSS (centrally sponsored schemes) in the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland has expressed concern over the non-payment of salaries. It also alleged the department of being discriminatory while pointing out that certain districts were getting salaries on time while others were not.

In a press release, co-ordinators of the All Nagaland ANM said the ANMs of Tuensang, Mon, Longleng, Kohima, Mokokchung, Tseminyu, Wokha, Kiphire, Zunheboto and Phek (3 blocks) have not received their salaries for months on end while ANMs from other districts like Peren have been receiving their salaries regularly.

Stating that it had approached the Department on several occasions over the non-payment of salaries regularly but to no avail, the co-ordinators said this lackadaisical attitude of the authorities towards release of pending salaries was causing misery to its members.

Towards this, a representation was submitted to the Principal Director, DoHFW on March 5 for release of pending salaries at the earliest, after which, it would be compelled to take own course of action in the form of agitation if their demands were not met, the press release stated.
