Musik-A School of Music & Arts is set to make history with its first-ever full-scale children’s musical ‘Annie the Kid,’ premiering on October 18 at Town Hall, Dimapur. The event marks a milestone for both the academy and Nagaland’s performing arts scene, being the region’s first musical of such scale performed entirely by children aged 3 to 12 years.
The announcement came during a press conference at Musik-A, Diphupar, where the young cast members addressed the press fraternity.
Based on the beloved Broadway classic “Annie,” the production reimagines the timeless story of optimism and resilience for young performers. Under the direction of Bendang Walling, an award-winning actor and director from Hills Theatre, the show promises to deliver a heart warming evening filled with music, laughter, and inspiration.
Rehearsals for ‘Annie the Kid’ began in May, with the young cast dedicating months of practice under the guidance of Musik-A’s faculty and creative team. Supporting Walling are Assistant Director Bubu Sechü, choreographers Roop and Ruby Meitei, Audio Designer Kibulong Imsong, Set Designer Limanungdang Ao, and Lighting Designer Bikash Duwara.
Founded in 2016 by award-winning singer Alobo Naga, Musik-A School has built a reputation for nurturing young talent in music and the arts. The school provides opportunities for children from diverse and often underprivileged backgrounds to develop creativity, confidence, and discipline through artistic education.
“‘Annie the Kid’ is more than a musical, it’s a celebration of imagination, courage, and the incredible potential of children when given the right platform,” said the Musik-A team.
The evening will also be graced by TemjenImna Along, Minister for Tourism and Higher Education, Government of Nagalandas the special guest.With over 80% of tickets already sold on Ahibi.in, anticipation for the event is high, shared Alobo Naga. General tickets are priced at INR 500, and audiences are encouraged to arrive early. Gates open at 5:30 pm, with the curtain rising at 6:00 pm sharp.
