Annual sports week in St Josephs Chumukedima

DIMAPUR, MARCH 11 (MExN): The annual Sports Week for St Joseph School, Chumukedima kicked off with a grand inaugural function held on 11 March with L. Thechamo Lotha, DGP Prison, as the Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion, Thechamo asserted that sports and games “having no boundary can bring in all religions and races into one arena.”

Affirming that it is students who are the beneficiaries of sporting events, the Chief Guest called on students to put in keen interests and active participation. He stated that the annual sports in the school should foster friendship, discipline and should nurture talent.

The day began with a scripture reading and prayer led by Rev. Fr. Kokto Kurian. Rev. Sabu Chenackal, Principal, accorded a warm welcome to the Chief Guest and a host of other dignitaries, that included, K. Sophie Angami, Cammandant 1st NAP; Teisoveise Metha, Deputy Commandant 1st NAP; Aboli Metha, Deputy Commandant 15th NAP (IR) Mahila; Rajouvotuo, President, Chakro Angami Public Organization; Managing Board Members; Public Leaders, Parents, Fathers and Sisters. The special attraction of the inaugural function included a Cultural Dance Competition between the four houses, March Past, Aerobic Display, Choreography and a Band Display by the 37 Assam Rifles. The function concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Themyarine, the school leader.
