Dimapur, July 27 (MExN): After ten days of wide-ranging and rigorous training, Annual Training Camp of No 1 Nagaland Air Squadron NCC, held at Pilgrim Higher Secondary School (PHSS), Dimapur that started on July 17, culminated on July 26.
A press release issued by the NCC Dimapur stated that more than 280 cadets from all over Nagaland attended the camp at PHSS from July 17 and during the camp, various training activities such as tent pitching, rifle shooting, aero modeling, career counseling, guest lectures, ground training lectures, sports competitions, pre flight training etc were conducted.
Brigadier SS Dhankhar, Group Commander visited the camp on July 24 and in his address to the cadets, emphasized the importance of public speaking skills to climb up the ladder of success. Culmination of the camp was marked by cultural programme and bara khana (dinner) on July 25. Kaini Khekho Kikon, Principal and Bithungo Kikon, Administrator of PHSS were the guests for the event. “The cultural event displayed the talent of cadets of Nagaland and showcased the glimpse of Nagaland’s rich culture and heritage,” it added.
The principal complimented the cadets for the wonderful display of Naga culture through their enthralling performances and advised the cadets to be passionate about whatever they intend to do and excel in it. “The success will follow automatically,” she said.
Camp Commandant Wing Commander in his address summed up various activities undertaken at the camp and complimented the cadets for their excellent performance in all the training activities. He advised the cadets to set a goal and work hard to achieve it. The cultural programme was followed by a meal.
On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26, Camp Commandant covered a background and brief history of Kargil war. He shared a few anecdotes of the war which helped the young cadets to comprehend the sacrifices made by our gallant soldiers and airmen. A two minute silence was observed at the end to pay respect to the Kargil martyrs.
