One more personnel of the 10th NAP (IR) succumbed to heatstroke while on election duty in Bihar on June 1, it has been reported. This has taken the death toll of the IR personnel posted on election duty in Bihar to three.
The deceased jawan was identified as Wetelhou Chakhesang and was in his late 40s. Sources said late Wetelhou collapsed due to suspected heatstroke while on polling duty on Friday. He was rushed to hospital but unfortunately passed away early Saturday morning.
Nagaland Dy Chief Minister and Home Minister, Y Patton condoled the passing of the NAP (IR) jawan. “The news of the passing of one of our brave hearts of the 10th NAP (IR), Wetelhou Chakhesang, due to heat stroke during election duty in Bihar is deeply saddening. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and loved one at this time of grief. His commitment and service to the nation will always be remembers and honoured,” the Dy CM posted in X.
Two personnel of the 10th NAP (IR) identified as Constable Akangluba Ao and Havildar Nikiye Sumi also succumbed to heatstroke on May 26 and May 31 while on election duty in Bihar.
