Dimapur, January 2: All Nagaland Private Schools Association (ANPSA), Dimapur Unit has expressed deep sadness at the “unfortunate” demise of Akivito A. Sumi, class 10 student of Christian Hr. Sec. School, Dimapur on December 30, 2013. “He became a victim of an unmindful and despicable criminal act perpetrated by a mob of regular offenders led by a notorious gang leader of the New Market Area on December 28, 2013,” stated a press release issued by ANPSA president Andrew Ahoto.
Asserting that ANPSA has taken strong exception to the heinous act, President, ANPSA urged upon every NGO and law abiding citizen to strongly condemn such beastly acts. He further revealed that some organizations are patronizing the perpetrators, which he asserted, has to be vehemently condemned.
The ANPSA called upon all the right thinking citizens and organizations to render their fullest cooperation to the authorities concerned so that the culprits could be brought to justice at the earliest. The Association also appreciated the timely intervention and investigation made by the Police, but requested them to expedite the matter with due earnestness and urgency without any fear or favour. Further, it warned any individual or organization from bailing out the wrong doers once arrested.
The Association also added with due regret that despite the advancement in education and awareness about crime, there has been a drastic increase in criminal activities in Dimapur “unlike the yester years where such crimes were unheard of and the people were all law abiding and very honest.” It particularly expressed shock and sadness that “rampant criminal activities like alcoholism, drugs and flesh trade are carried out right under the nose of the civil administration, various responsible business organisations and NGOs, thus tempting the innocent students to fall easy prey.” The Association stated that the motto of “Nagaland for Christ” should not be made a mockery, but rather it should be adhered to in deeds and not in words alone.
