ANPSTA holds change of guard

KOHIMA, JUNE 2 (MExN): The All Nagaland Pre-Service Teachers’ Association (ANPSTA) conducted its change of guard cum general meeting in Kohima on Saturday, where new executive members were formally installed for the 2025–27 tenure.

The event was chaired by Lemchemong, with a prayer offered by Anenla Longchar. Outgoing president Yaviu Metha addressed the gathering with a brief farewell speech, followed by advisor Botika Sumi declaring the names of the new office bearers.

Lemchemong officially took over as president, while Hitova Murumi assumed the post of vice president. Chalievi-i Dahou was elected general secretary, Noksung as finance secretary, and Imnasenla Jamir as information and media secretary. The ceremony was held in the presence of ANPSTA members and unit representatives from across the state.

In his inaugural address, Lemchemong expressed concern over what he described as longstanding injustices faced by Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) trainees. He pointed out that there has been no public advertisement for primary teacher posts in the past nine years, attributing it to rampant backdoor appointments.

Calling the situation “unfortunate,” he assured that the new team will continue to pursue the association’s demands through democratic means. “We will not relent until justice is delivered,” he affirmed.
