Kohima, September 23 (MExN): Taking the view of the huge vacant posts of elementary teacher caused by the Retirement Act 2009, the All Nagaland Pre-Service Teacher’s Association (ANPSTA) has urged the government to conduct interview for filling up the vacant posts in a fair manner at the earliest “in order to rescued the badly affected school children owing to shortage of teaching staff.”
In a representation submitted to commissioner secretary school education & SCERT with a subject “representation for conduct of recruitment of elementary teachers,” the Association said they were unhappy with the department of school education “for not implementing the NCTE norms and RTE Acts 2009 for recruitment of teachers which is mandatory for all states/UTs despite repeated representation and reminders.”
“That the government instead of streamlining a recruitment policy is engaged in random and backdoor appointment; the recent one of the many unfair appointment of teachers under SSA in Peren and Phek districts. Furthermore, the department has really cheated and victimized the trained teachers,” the Association said in a representation adding that they are not at all satisfied and convinced over the decision taken on 22nd June 2010 and consequent upon the review for recruitment of teacher vide No.CAB-2/2008 Agenda No-10 “which is not being applied by the authority in spirit at all.”
The Association said that unless and until the government do something for fulfillment of its demands, “ we the one thousand plus (1000+) trained unemployed teachers is all set to initiate 2nd phase of agitation against the department of school education owing to the departments failure to fulfill even a single demand of the association.”
The representation signed by ANPSTA president Namdwa Kulimbe urged the department to immediately stop random appointment and conduct interview amongst the trained teachers (seeking requisite qualification) within 45 days from the submission of the representation. “In the event of failing to do the same shall invite unrest and serious consequences, which the Association will not be held responsible,” it added.
