ANSTA Peren disappointed by govt order on teacher rationalisation and retention

DIMAPUR, MAY 20 (MExN): Peren unit of All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA) has expressed disappointment at the recent government order regarding Rationalisation and Retention of Teachers in Peren district. A press release from the unit pointed out that in Peren district, SDEOs are posted for a few months and get retirement while they hardly come to the office. It stated that there was “no ground inspection for Rationalisation and Retention.”

If inspection was done, the unit questioned why in some villages where schools are closed or are not run after being established, additional teachers are posted. In these cases, ANSTA Peren said that the teachers are “enjoying their pay without performing their duties.” It further said that there are schools with no furniture, benches or desks.

“This proves that there was no inspection done. Those teachers, existing and newly posted, should be posted to other deserving schools,” it said. The unit informed that some primary teachers posted in GHSs, GHSSs were transferred to GMSs or GPSs in the rational list, but some were retained again. “How can unqualified primary teachers teach in GHS or GHSS?” it questioned.

It stated that some graduate teachers from GMSs were transferred to GHSs but some teachers were retained. “How can a single graduate teacher run GMS section, it should be downgraded instead,” it said. The unit informed that in the rationalization, four primary teachers were transferred from a GHSS with no replacement. In some villages which were downgraded to GPS, additional teachers were posted in the rationalization. In view of this, the unit asked the concerned authority to revoke the order, take up rationalization and retention after checking the ground reality by the summer break.
