ANTA alleges harassment of taxi drivers

DIMAPUR, MARCH 20 (MExN): The All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) Kohima Unit has condemned alleged “harassment meted out on taxi drivers and stealing of taxis by unknown miscreants.” A press note by the ANTA, Kohima Unit expressed sadness over the incident wherein a Zonal Taxi with the driver identified as Saddam had been allegedly “taken away by three unknown persons on hire from Dimapur for Kohima on March.” 

The note informed that neither the taxi nor the driver reached has Kohima till date and that the whereabouts and conditions of the driver and taxi are not known. “An FIR in this connection has been lodged under Kohima North Police Station and manhunt is in progress,” stated R Robert Kire, President of ANTA, Kohima unit. 

The President stated that the association has appealed to the public, police, district administration and the Naga nationalist workers to help ANTA in tracing the driver along with the taxi. He informed that any information about the missing driver and the taxi can be passed to ANTA Kohima Unit president at 9436005458 or the ANTA Kohima Unit Action Committee Convenor, Menuovilie Shuohu at 9402766989. It added that information can also be passed to the nearest police stations.
