Kohima, Oct 24 (MExN): The All Nagaland Taxi Association held a meeting with the taxi owners and drivers on October 23 last at Kohima and adopted a five point resolution.
The meeting resolved that the Association would urge upon the government to consider the problems confronting the Association members such as yearly road taxes, KMC daily parking tax, toll tax, DMC daily parking tax, East Dimapur daily parking tax, underground tax, etc. while trying to improve the taxi service in the state. It resolved that, as the seating capacity for the different categories of the Taxis has been reduced to 4+1 and 7+1, the taxi fare will have to be enhanced.
It was resolved that due to the hike in the prices of fuel the fare from Kohima-Dimapur and vice versa has been raised from Rs. 100 to Rs. 130 as notified and implemented in October 2005.
It also resolved that the Association would request the concerned authority to revise the rate of taxi fares of six districts which falls under Kohima zone.
It also resolved that the association would submit a copy of resolution adopted in the said meeting for consideration and till such time a favorable reply is received, the Association will maintain the present arrangement in status quo.
This was stated in a release issued by the Association’s president Vivor Miachie-o and joint secretary Keneingulie Solo.
Meanwhile, the Association in a representation addressed to Deputy Commissioner and Chairman regional Transport Authority said “The Association is facing immense difficulties with so many problems to confront in their day to day activities and at the same time the government is imposing certain Taxes upon us and besides owing to the Hike in prices of fuels, which we find it very difficult to co-operate with our humble earning without taking notice of our grievances.”
