
WOKHA, OCTOBER 27 (MExN): The All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) Wokha Unit held its annual general meeting on October 27 at the Conference Hall of Lotha Hoho in Wokha Town. The meeting, chaired by President T Renbemo Kikon, welcomed members and set the agenda for discussions and approvals.
According to a press release issued by Lipenthung Ovung, General Secretary, ANTA Wokha Unit, the session commenced with a prayer led by E Chibemo Yanthan, the association's auditor. General Secretary Lipenthung Ovung and Financial Secretary R Mhao Ezung presented the annual report for 2023-2024.
During the meeting, it was reaffirmed that taxi fares would adhere to the rates approved by the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) board in Wokha. The assembly also discussed financial aid for members, which will follow Article 23 of the ANTA constitution.
The association emphasized that all taxis based in Wokha must obtain affiliate membership, with no taxis permitted to operate without proper registration. The members reaffirmed their earlier resolution advocating for a "one government, one tax" policy regarding taxation issues.
Approval was granted for the introduction of local taxis in Wokha Town, pending RTA board approval. A committee was established to ensure the smooth conduct of the upcoming Raising Day and annual picnic, with Nchumbemo Ezung appointed as the overall in-charge. In a bid to enhance service quality and safety, the president urged all members to maintain updated taxi documents. He encouraged drivers and owners to prioritize service to the public, especially with the festive season approaching, and directed the disciplinary action committee to monitor compliance with the RTA-approved taxi fares. Following the meeting, an exhibition futsal match took place between officials and members at Anfield Vungoju.
