The All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) Wokha Unit has stepped forward to support a member whose house was destroyed by a landslide triggered by heavy rainfall on August 26. The landslide struck Etsüchuka Colony, Wokha Town, in the afternoon, severely affecting the residence of Yanpothung Jami and his family.

Led by T Renbemo Kikon, President of the Wokha Unit, along with executive members and advisors, ANTA visited the site today August 28 and provided financial aid to the displaced family. The association has requested a thorough assessment by authorities and has urged for assistance to all affected families. Additionally, ANTA has appealed to relevant departments, contractors, and companies to address blocked drainage and repair public roads impacted by the monsoon.

According to Yanpothung Jami, the landslide occurred around 3 pm, and fortunately, none of his family members were present at the time. They managed to retrieve only a few belongings before the area was deemed unsafe, with the landslide undermining the foundations of neighbouring houses and forcing evacuations.

Etsüchuka Chairman Aremo Kithan reported that the landslide resulted from intense rainfall between 3 pm and 3:30 pm. The District Administration and Disaster Management teams have assessed the damage. Local residents have mobilised to provide emergency donations, and a meeting was also held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Yesterday August 27 to address the ongoing situation.
