Dimapur, February 3 (MExN): A 72-hour anti-corruption drive in mass contact areas of NF Railway which kick started on January 31 has concluded. “The 72-hour special drive with the aim of getting rid of malpractices would be concluded tonight,” stated a press release from NFR Chief Public Relations Officer PJ Sharma. During the drive, concerned officials and officers of Commercial, Traffic, RPF & Vigilance department undertook surprise checks at all public interface locations besides interacting with rail users, it informed. All five divisions, i.e. Katihar, Alipurduar, Rangia, Lumding & Tinsukia launched an all-out concentrated drive of 72 hours to convey a message to the staff that the Railway would not tolerate any malpractice, it added. Surprise night checks at booking counters, windows, reservation counters, parcel offices, lost and found offices, TTE’s offices and trains were carried out during the drive. Inspections were also carried out through RPF personnel at different locations, the release said. During the drive one staff-member of Katihar division was penalised for overcharging a passenger while another staff-member of Lumding division was put under suspension when found with an excess amount of money in his custody while on duty, it added. As Indian railway has embarked on a zero tolerance policy against corruption, NFR will conduct many such more drives against corruption in public interfaces, the release maintained.
