DIMAPUR, JULY 19 (MExN): The All Nagaland Trained Physical Education Unemployed Union (ANTPEUU) conducted an online general meeting via video conference on July 16 to discuss various issues related to Physical Education.
The union said it ought to conduct activities related to physical education in the coming days and also to promote physical education in the society through proper channels.
A press release from the union said that a third of humanity is now under the lockdown due to the pandemic which resulted in shutting down all schools, colleges and universities worldwide and most of the people are blinded by negativity towards stress and anxiety, "which makes us all a victim of insecurities and in total chaos."
“Being sedentary is bad for our physical and mental health, so staying active during this difficult time is important. Being physically active has many positive impacts on our daily activities. It helps to keep our immune system working effectively which helps the body fight against infection, it added.
To cope with the burning chaos towards this pandemic situation, staying safe and following the right protocol towards the pandemic guidelines and maintaining a healthy hygiene is highly recommended, where Health Education and Physical Education can be the main tool towards the preparation of an individual’s immunity against this virus.
The union said there are many ways at home where one can stay active and continue their workout routines and most of this requires very little or no equipment.
It meanwhile thanked the Prime Minister, Sports Minister and state Chief Minister for selecting Nagaland State Sports Academy, Indra Gandhi Stadium Kohima for Khelo India state Center of Excellence.
“This is an opportunity and great initiative towards the upliftment of sports, which will give the right platform to train and uplift sportspersons to national and international levels,” the union said. It further asked the Youth Resource and Sports Department to work hand in hand with the School Education Department in identifying young talents in the field of sports at the early age and provide them with ample opportunity and platform.
It further asked all the unemployed trained Physical Education teacher who are on the verge of overage to stay fit by keeping in touch with physical activity and maintaining a positive mindset. “We still hope and pray that the concerned department will soon come up with the right decision towards our union’s grievances soon after the pandemic situation comes to tense,” the union said.
