'Ao Naga Choir' performs at SPIC MACAY

Dimapur, March 13 (MExN): The 'Ao Naga Choir' performed at the SPIC MACAY (The Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music, Art and Culture Among Youth) at Kochi, Kerala on March 11.

The choir was requested to perform sacred, classical, gospel and Naga folk songs, informed a press release received here.

The concert was held at the 'Bastion Bungalow' heritage site at Fort Kochi, a quaint little place which still retains its old world colonial charm and has a cosmopolitan culture highly influenced by historical trading partners - Phoenicians, Portuguese, Dutch, Arab, Chinese and Japanese. Influences of this potpourri of communities are reflected in its architecture, cuisine and festivals.

Dressed in their finest traditional outfits, the 'Ao Naga Choir' performed for the public and dignitaries from the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Finance, The Indian Navy, The Port Trust of India, Civil Administration and a good mix of foreign tourists who were very appreciative of the good mix of traditional Naga Melodies and repertoires from Western Composers such as WA Mozart, Maurice Durufle, Richard Dubras, Tom Fettke, Sir John Rutter, Moses Hogan, Ralph Manuel among others.

SPIC MACAY in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism has been conducting programs at various heritage and tourist sites all over India under the theme 'Incredible India series'.
