Ao Senden flays alleged attempt at 'character assassination'

Mokokchung, November 5 (MExN): The Ao Senden, on behalf of the entire Ao community and all Ao civil organizations, today condemned what it termed a “despicable attempt at character assassination” of former Governor and Nagaland Chief Minister Dr. S.C. Jamir.

According to the apex Ao Naga tribe organization, the attempt was made by a “nameless coward, so-called Naga” in a post on the Facebook group called “The Patriotic Nagas.”

“This Facebook post is not only an insult to the towering, full-blooded Ao Naga political veteran Dr. S.C. Jamir, one of the architects of the State of Nagaland, but also to the entire Ao Naga community in general,” the Ao Senden stated in a condemnation issued by its President Marsanen Imsong and General Secretary Imtipokyim.

Further, it unequivocally condemned the “sweeping, venomous, and derogatory inference about the immorality of Ao women in general based on the wild, unsubstantiated observations of some individual in the last century when we were still semi-primitive.”

“This is totally uncalled for and is considered an intolerable insult not only to Ao women but to our whole community,” it added.

The Ao Senden further asserted that it would “leave no stone unturned” until the postmaster is identified and the matter is taken to its logical conclusion.

It also directed “all Ao citizens to stay alert in case of any exigency.”

Meanwhile, in a separate directive, the Ao Senden asked the administrators (admins) of the Facebook group ‘The Patriotic Nagas’ to identify the postmaster of the post that “attempted character assassination” of Dr. Jamir within 7 days from the day of publication and to submit the information to its office.
