Nagaland DGP Rupin Sharma and other officers with the Ao Senden delegation in Kohima on November 13.
Mokokchung, November 13 (MExN): A delegation from Ao Senden, led by its President Marsanen Imsong, met with Nagaland Director General of Police (DGP) Rupin Sharma and other officers today to submit a complaint letter regarding a recent objectionable social media post.
According to Ao Senden, the post, allegedly shared on a Facebook group called “The Patriotic Nagas,” was “defamatory, insulting, outrageous, and despicable.”
The complaint named the “so-called Naga Postmaster, admins, and moderators” of the “The Patriotic Nagas” group.
In a press release, Ao Senden informed that the DGP assured “positive action” against the perpetrators at the earliest.
“As the Ao Senden places our confidence in his dynamic leadership of the Nagaland Police Department, we request all Ao citizens to allow the law to take its own course,” it said, while urging them to stay alert to deal with any exigency.
On November 5, Ao Senden, on behalf of the entire Ao community and all Ao civil organisations, condemned what it termed a “despicable attempt at character assassination” of former Governor and Nagaland Chief Minister Dr SC Jamir in the aforementioned social media post. Further, it unequivocally denounced the “sweeping, venomous, and derogatory inference” about Ao women.
Accordingly, it asked the administrators of the Facebook group “The Patriotic Nagas” to identify the individuals responsible within seven days of the publication and submit the information to its office.
With the expiry of the deadline, Ao Senden submitted the complaint to the DGP.
