Ao Senden, MTLT demand ‘stringent action’

Dimapur, June 14 (MExN): The Ao Senden today condemned the “disgusting rape” of a minor committed by a 68 years old man. Expressing its “utmost regret”, the Ao Senden stated that it is very disheartened and at the same time extended solidarity to the victim.

The Ao Senden expressed appreciation to the victim’s family and Eastern Nagaland Women Organization Mokokchung (ENWOM) for showing utmost restraint despite the “intolerable and inhuman act”. It also extended appreciation to the District Administration for timely intervention and proceeding of necessary action in containing the situation.

Demanding stringent action against the culprit, the Ao Senden asserted that the culprit “must not be bailed out under any circumstances” so that no similar “misadventure” is repeated and the situation is not provoked beyond control.

“Such shameless act should not be repeated by anyone and offenders shall be dealt firmly without any leniency according to the custom of the land,” it further cautioned.

Meanwhile, the Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT) also vehemently denounced the rape incident. A press release from the media cell of the MTLT extended solidarity with the Eastern Naga Women Organization Mokokchung (ENWOM), Eastern Naga People Union Mokokchung (ENPUM), Eastern Naga Students Union Mokokchung (ENSUM), Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU), Watsu Mungdang and all others “who are united in purpose to root out evil from society.”

Stating that the accused “must be served justice”, the MTLT called upon the District Administration to “befittingly render justice without any delay”.

KNSK Kohima: The Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK) Kohima Unit has expressed utter shock and condemned the recent rape of a minor girl by a 68 year old man.

In a press release, the organisation while demanding befitting punishment to the rapist, also questioned the negligence of Alemchiba's daughter in failing to give protection towards the minor under her own roof. Extending support to Eastern Nagaland Women Organisation Mokokchung (ENWOM) in its fight for justice, the KNSK Kohima Unit earnestly appealed the government to deliver justice without delay and as per the law.
