Dimapur, June 25, (MExN): The Ao Senden today welcomed the peace initiative by the NSCN (K) on June 24 last and termed it as a good gesture to the entire Ao community. The president of the Ao Senden, Temjenkaba, in a press statement, said, “The press release issued by NSCN (K) on 24.6.07 extending “olive branch” to Ao Senden is a sign of good gesture to me as well as the entire Ao community.” Temjenkaba expressed his strong hope that the NSCN (K) gesture will bring peace in the state. “This will pave the way for bringing peace in the strife-torn state.” The NSCN (K) and the Ao community had strained relations after the 2003 incident in Mokokchung. However, after four years, the NSCN (K) extended an olive branch towards peace on June 24 last to the Ao Senden.
