Dimapur, April 19 (MExN): Hectic preparations are underway in different places as the Ao community eagerly looks forward to usher in the spirit of joyful occasion of Moatsu.
In Dimapur, the Ao Senso Telongjem Diphupar (ASTD) will be hosting a Moatsu festival celebration under the theme, “Envisioning today’s cultural values for tomorrow” on May 2 at Local Ground, Diphupar Village.
Moatsu is eagerly awaited, Latong Pongen, President, ASTD said in a statement, adding that that the event is being organised with the aim of imparting the significance of the festival to the younger generation. He also extended invitation to "one and all” to the celebration.
Convenor, Planning Committee, A Akum Longkumer said that while the mood is celebratory, preparations are hectic.
He, however, expressed confidence that the festival will enhance the knowledge about the rich cultural practices of one’s community amongst the Youth and preserve its culture for posterity.
In addition, to foster better relationship and co ordination, the festival will also feature traditional “Tug of War” between different ranges of the Ao tribe as well as various Organizations within Diphupar Village.
