The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) celebrated the 62nd teachers’ day celebration at Conference Hall, Whispering Winds, Mokokchung, where District Teachers Awardees were also felicitated.

Short speeches were delivered by Tsüvisie Phoji, NCS, Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Sentinenla, District Education Officer and Dr Anungla Aier, ANPSA, Mokokchung Unit.

“A teacher moulds and shapes the students,” said DC Mokokchung in his speech. He said that it is a day when everyone who has attended a formal education honours their teacher. He pointed that teaching profession is the noblest profession and so are teachers, the most revered. 

While appreciating the teachers for their hard labour, he also challenged the awardees to let their award be a continued propagation to the students and the society that look up to them and encouraged to continue being torch bearers, whose teachings are not confined to the classrooms and the textbooks. 

Sentinenla, District Education Officer, in her speech pointed out that there is no substitute to quality education because it helps in changing the lives of thousands of individuals. 

She shared that 5th September is a day for teachers to remind oneself of the privilege of being a teacher and the responsibility one has in enhancing the students' imagination and increasing their capabilities. She added that only a teacher can see through the past from the present into the future of a student. 

Dr Anungla Aier, ANPSA Mokokchung acknowledged the awardees for being teachers who goes beyond the call of duty to shape the students' future. 

During the occassion, AKM also felicitated four district award winners including Imkongwabang, GHS, Saring; Imojungla, GMS Sumi; Bendangakum, GHS, Changtongya A and S Bendangla Ao, Children School, Mokokchung.

AKM president delivered the welcome address while the Education Secretary gave the vote of thanks. 

The programme was attended by Teachers, students, District Teachers awardees, Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Additional SP Thungchobemo, Ao Senden and Watsü Mungdang.
