Ao Students’ Union Diphupar attain 25 years

The silver jubilee celebration of the Ao Kakheshir Telongjem Diphupar (Ao Students’ Union Diphupar) was held here at NEZCC Garden on Tuesday with former pro-vice chancellor, Nagaland University, Prof. A. Lanunungsang, as resource person and former minister, Kuzholuzo Neinu (Azo), MLA, as special invitee.  

Prof. A. Lanunungsang, in his address dwelled on the theme of the jubilee ‘Unifying to liberate’ and said at present Naga society is so much divided that unity seems to be a far-fetched cry. He said the need of the hour is for Nagas to remain united in order to fulfill their aspirations and also march forward to the future. Prof. Lanunungsang said if Naga people really desire to liberate themselves, then they must come together as one and march forward for a corruption free society. The former pro pro-VC also touched on the biblical context of celebration of jubilees.  

Kuzholuzo Neinu (Azo) in his address said jubilee is a time for reconciliation in its true spirit, beginning with one’s own brothers and sisters and extending to neighbours and even enemies. Elaborating on the essence of jubilee as per the Christian Gospel, Azo said to receive blessing during jubilee time, one must forgive one another, let bygones be bygones and strengthen the brotherhood and humanity among all fellow citizens or villagers.  

Stating that in the past, Nagas have misused reconciliation resulting in more divisions and conflicts among brethrens, Azo said Nagas should learn from past mistakes and try to forge unity and brotherhood among Naga brethrens in they are to have a future. He further reminded that Nagas as Christians should imbibe and live upto the Christian principle of forgive and forget and strengthen the spirit of brotherhood. On the current imbroglio relating to election to the urban local bodies (ULBs), Azo expressed optimism that Christian wisdom would finally pave the way for an amicable solution.  

On the occasion, the former minister also released jubilee souvenir of AKLD.  

Latong Pongen chairman, ASTD, Kumlamo Patton, president, DNSU, Lanutoshi Aier, president, AKTD delivered short greetings while Tangit Jamir, president AKTD said the welcome and presidential address.  

First AKTD president Moayanger in his speech highlighted the reminiscence of AKTD.
