Dimapur, April 22 (MExN): The Watsü Mungdang (Ao Women Hoho) during its silver jubilee celebration in Mokokchung has passed a jubilee resolution to establish the Watsü Foundation for Women Development Center at Mokokchung.
The goal of this ambitious project, estimated to cost Rs. 2 crores, is to collect, safeguard and make accessible for public objects of the tangible and intangible evidence of people and their environment for purposes of study, education and enjoyment towards the furtherance of development of women.
The main objective of this project is to collect, preserve, conserve and exhibit objects of scientific, artistic or historical importance. It aims to revitalize the vanishing but valuable traditional lifestyles, indigenous knowledge, values and customs through education and salvage programmes.
Besides this, the project will also provide facility for scholarly research on different ethno-sciences and promote traditional and contemporary art, knowledge and skill, and also promote empowerment of women and act as a women study center
The components of Watsü Foundation for Women Development Center would include a Museum, an Office-cum-Library, a Conference Hall and a Documentation Center.
