The Konyak community in Mon town celebrated Aoleang Monyu festival with N. Bongkhao Konyak, Advisor DUDA as the chief guest and Thavaseelan K, IAS, DC Mon as the guest of honour at local ground, Mon on April 4.
Speaking on the occasion, N. Bongkhao Konyak urged the people to work together for all the civil societies and reminded the young intellectuals to find path for “preserving the rich traditions and cultures.”
While gathering together to celebrate the festival, the chief guest, said to the young students leaders headed by KSU and MTSU to advocate the importance of education among the far flung villages and serve the community with utmost allegiance. He urged the youths to know the usage of technology and not to let the rich diverse culture and tradition become a mere history. He appealed to the young minds to embrace culture with pride wherever they go.
He also observed that the strength and power of a community lies, not in the geographical areas, but in unity. Therefore, he called up the people to be more united, whatever the challenges and hurdles may come along the way. Meanwhile, Thavaseelan K, IAS, DC Mon in his address called upon the people of Mon to rededicate oneself for progress.
Dignitaries like EE Pangteang, MLA, C. L John, MLA, Y. M Yollow, MLA, Eshak Konyak, MLA and Khoiwang, president ENPO and other well wishers attend the festival.
Cultural songs and dance were performed by union of villages and areas.
