APC Kikheto inspects NEC projects in Mokokchung

Agriculture Production Commissioner, Y Kikheto Sema, IAS who is heading a team and touring to inspect and monitor NEC projects in the state on September 16 visited various projects under Mokokchung district.

In the morning, the team inspected ongoing works at Fire Brigade Station, Marepkong ward Mokokchung where the departmental officials briefed him about the works. Later, Kikheto inspected the construction of Government High School, Sungratsu which has the approved cost of Rs 256 lakh. Out of the approved cost, Rs 40 lakh has been released and Kikheto expressed satisfaction with the progress of the work with 30% of work completion. Sungratsu Village Council Chairman, Headmaster of the school, contractor and other village leaders were present during the visit. 

A brief stoppage was also made at Mopungchuket village where a meeting was held with the village authorities. The village authorities made an appeal to the visiting officials to facilitate infrastructure for water sourcing stating that farming activities in their village was being affected even though the source of water was available. 

In Mangkolemba, the team inspected the ongoing works of Kumbani Stadium where the contractor and concerned department officials were present to brief the team. The stadium is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 3.94 cr. Kikheto lauded the progress of the work and further encouraged the contractor to speedy up the works.

Kikheto and his team also visited Coffee farming and plantation activities at Khar village and urged the Land Resources Department to provide adequate technical expertise to the farmers. On his way back to Mokokchung, the APC visited integrated/mixed farming at Yimchalu village under FOCUS-IFAD Project and agri & allied projects and interacted with leaders of the village and encouraged the farmers to pass on their knowledge to fellow farmers.

The team will leave for Longleng district on September 17 and return to Kohima on September 19 next.
