Apex Chakhesang orgs call for unity

Dimapur, September 15 (MExN): The apex Chakhesang organisations in regard to the reconciliation process has stated the “participation of all Nagas is a must in any political solution”. The apex organisations: The Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO), Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC), Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU), Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) and the Chakhesang Mothers Association (CMA), had a “free and frank” interaction with the representatives of GPRN/NSCN and NNC/FGN at "Designated Camp Khehoi "on September 13 last.

The interactive session dwelt primarily on the ongoing process of reconciliation, peace and unity among the Nagas. The CPO was appreciated for being vocal and unprejudiced in its role as apex tribal organisation. The contribution of the Chakhesang people past and present in the national affairs was acknowledged. It was agreed that under the Forum for Naga Reconciliation, Nagas are experiencing a brief spell of peace, stated the press note issued by MIP, GPRN/NSCN and Rali Wali, NNC/FGN.

The note also mentioned that the Monyakshu Conclave September 15 last in which the GPRN/NSCN and NNC/FGN merged unconditionally based on the “Covenant of Reconciliation” signed by top leaders from three Naga political groups was emphasised. The delegation was also explained of the numerous propagandas churned out from various quarters to demonise and undermine the Reconciliation process but in the end, the will of Naga people became as clear as the blue sky. Political solution solely depends on the unity of the Naga people. For this reason, the “Covenant of Reconciliation” signed by three top leaders is in existence. The apex Chakhesang organisations were also reminded of the systematic discrimination that is visible in the socio-political spectrum.

The visiting Chakhesang delegation led by CPO President expressed hope that such meeting would strengthen the Nagas in their search for reconciliation and unity.

“The division among the Nagas must be brought to an end. The coming together of GPRN/NSCN is a positive development which is appreciated. Human efforts and actions will not suffice until and unless God the creator of Nagaland is taken into confidence. In the eyes of God all are equals and discrimination of any kind is unacceptable to God. The arena of Reconciliation should be open to all Nagas. Without the common voice of the people, it is difficult for GOI to give political solution to the Nagas,” the note stated.

Moreover, CPO president assured effective role in strengthening the reconciliation process. President of Chakheasang Mothers Association also emphasised on the need for Nagas to reconcile in true spirit. She lamented that “sovereignty will be useless if all the sons are killed in factional fighting. If the boat of Reconciliation is steered with wisdom, Naga people will recognise the effort and determination of those who truly stand for the people.”

The student leaders and youth forum leaders also appreciated the GPRN/NSCN & NNC/FGN for taking them into confidence and opined that such frank discussions could remove doubts and fear psychosis that had gripped the Nagas for decades. It was agreed that such meeting would also be held periodically in future,” the note said.
