DIMAPUR, JULY 10 (MExN): The Angami Public Organisation (APO) today said that the Nagaland State Government should give clarity as to which official records about the “list of indigenous inhabitants” does it mean with regard to its notification on the Register of Indigenous Inhabitant of Nagaland (RIIN).
This question was posed by the APO during an executive council meeting held in Kohima on July 9.
Further in this context, the APO fully endorsed the Government of Nagaland Notification No – AR 8/8/76 28th April, 1977, wherein the criteria for a person to qualify as Indigenous Inhabitant of Nagaland were clearly spelled and which forms the basis for issuing Indigenous Inhabitant Certificate.
“Therefore, the APO is of the view that proper modalities are framed by the government before actual Registry of Indigenous Inhabitant of Nagaland begins,” a press release from APO President, Dr Kepelhousie Terhuja and Information and Publicity Secretary, Neithono Sothu stated.
The APO further felt that the time frame of 60 days to prepare and submit the list is also too limited, that it might hamper proposed extensive survey work and therefore suggests that sufficient time may be given to prepare the list.
